Grilling Games Ltd
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 June 2026
Grilling ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Grilling Games Ltd, registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17289505). This policy explains what we collect and why when you use the Grilling mobile app. Questions: support@grillinggames.com.
What we collect
- Anonymous account ID. When you first open the app we create an anonymous account identifier to enable gameplay and save app data. This identifier does not contain your name or email address, and we do not collect your name, email, or a password you choose.
- Display name & in-game content. The name you choose and the content you create during games — such as answers, votes, drawings, likes, and any text you type (for example custom questions, clues, prompts, categories, and guesses). We store this on our servers (Amazon Web Services) to run the game.
- Device & usage data. Collected automatically: device model, operating system, app version, IP address, and how you interact with the app, for analytics, troubleshooting, and security. We use Amazon CloudWatch and other AWS services to log requests, monitor app performance, diagnose issues, and improve the app.
- Reports. If you report another player, we collect the reason you select, any details you add, the content you flag, and the user IDs involved, so we can review and act on the report and keep the app safe.
- Purchases. If you buy something (e.g. Remove Ads), Apple or Google processes the payment. We do not receive or store your payment card details - only confirmation of the purchase.
We do not collect sensitive personal information (e.g. health, religion, precise GPS location), and we do not sell your personal information for money. We share limited advertising identifiers with our advertising partner as described below, which some laws (such as the California CCPA/CPRA) may treat as "sharing" for targeted advertising; see Your choices for how to opt out.
Advertising
Google AdMob is the only advertising provider we use; we do not integrate any other ad networks or third-party advertising SDKs. AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers and usage data, and — where you consent — use them for personalised ads. We have configured AdMob to request only ads rated suitable for a general audience (a maximum "PG" ad content rating). On iOS we ask for tracking permission (Apple's App Tracking Transparency) first; if you decline, you'll see only non-personalised ads. In the EU/UK we show Google's consent form (the UMP / IAB TCF consent flow) before any personalised advertising, and we honour your choice. Until you provide consent — and for anyone we cannot establish is over the applicable age — ads are non-personalised only. You can buy Remove Ads to turn ads off entirely. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers who help us run the app:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) - hosting, account/game data storage, logging, and AI content generation (Amazon Bedrock)
- Google AdMob - advertising
- Apple / Google - in-app purchases
We may also disclose information where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or others, and in connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition). Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses) for such transfers.
App permissions
- Photo library (save only) - to save your drawing comic strips, with your permission.
Artificial Intelligence
Some features use artificial intelligence (AI) to generate game content such as prompts, questions, hints, answers, and other in-game text. In some game modes, AI may produce answers or responses that appear alongside those written by players. AI-generated content is created automatically and may not always be accurate; it is provided for entertainment only. AI is used solely to enhance gameplay and is not used to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on users. AI content is generated using Amazon Bedrock, processed within AWS; we do not use it to train third-party AI models. Prompts sent to Amazon Bedrock are processed solely to generate responses for gameplay and are not used by Amazon to train its foundation models.
Data retention & security
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. In general, account data is kept until you delete your account; in-game content is held in short-lived game sessions that expire automatically; diagnostic and security logs are kept for a limited period; reports are kept for as long as needed to address abuse; and purchase records are kept for as long as the law requires. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, but no system is 100% secure.
Our legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where the UK/EU GDPR applies, we process your information on the basis of: performing our contract with you to provide the Services; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the app; your consent (for example, for personalised advertising and tracking, which you can withdraw at any time); and compliance with legal obligations.
Children
Grilling is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from such children. We limit ads to PG-rated content, and personalised ads are shown only where permitted by your consent and device settings; otherwise ads are non-personalised. Because accounts are anonymous, we can't identify a specific child's data from an email alone. If a child has used the app and you want their data removed, delete the account from within the app on that child's device (About → "Delete account & data"); this permanently removes the account and the data linked to it. In-game content is stored in short-lived game sessions that expire automatically and is not linkable to an identifiable person. If you have any concerns, contact us at support@grillinggames.com.
Your choices
- Advertising / tracking. On iOS you can decline tracking when prompted, or change it later in your device Settings; on Android you can reset or limit your advertising ID in device Settings. EEA/UK users can change their consent choices via the in-app consent options. You can also purchase Remove Ads to turn off ads entirely.
- Permissions. You can grant or revoke the photo-library permission at any time in your device Settings.
- Account & data. You can permanently delete your account and the data linked to it at any time from within the app (About → "Delete account & data"). Because accounts are anonymous and we don't hold your email, in-app deletion is the way we can verify the request is yours. In-game content is stored in short-lived game sessions that expire automatically and is no longer linkable to you once your account is deleted.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; to opt out of targeted advertising or "sharing"; and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
You can exercise the most important of these rights directly in the app, without contacting us:
- Deletion. Delete your account and the data linked to it at any time via About → "Delete account & data".
- Withdraw consent / opt out of targeted advertising. Change your tracking and consent choices in your device settings or the in-app consent options, or purchase Remove Ads.
Because accounts are anonymous and we do not hold your name, email, or other identifying details, we generally cannot identify which data is yours from a contact request alone, so for requests such as access, correction, or a copy of your data we may be unable to act unless you can provide information that lets us locate it (for example, by making the request from within the app). This reflects our limited ability to identify you (see Article 11 of the UK/EU GDPR), not an unwillingness to help. For questions or help, email support@grillinggames.com and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. EEA/UK users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority; UK users may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be notified in-app where appropriate.
